During your treatment some parts of the brace may break with the most common problem being a bracket dislodging from the tooth. This is usually the result of eating a hard food or not taking care when chewing food. Almost all breakages can be avoided. Multiple breakages during treatment can significantly lengthen the time the brace has to be on teeth.
During the early stages of treatment a very flexible wire is used which is prone to displacement particularly at the back of the brace. Should this occur it is often easy to place the wire back in again.
It is important to contact the surgery if any part of the brace is damaged or breaks and it may be that you have to attend to have it fixed.
