Dr David Auld
After qualifying in Glasgow, David underwent his Vocational Training in General Practice in Aberdeenshire. Thereafter, he worked with children and adults with special needs in Glasgow, prior to working in oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontology, paediatric dentistry and orthodontics in the West of Scotland.
David joined the GDC’s Specialist register for Paediatric Dentistry in 2012 after completing his Specialist Training in Yorkshire and gaining his MDentSci through the internationally-renowned department at the University of Leeds. David has since helped thousands of children referred to him by dentists across the North of England. He originally qualified in Glasgow in 2005 and gained experience across general practice, community dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and periodontology before specializing in children’s dentistry. He won the MDDUS Prize for his elective research project as an undergraduate and was awarded the Max Horsnell Travel Prize from the British Society for Paediatric Dentistry in 2011. David now spends the majority of his time in specialist practice, having worked at Clarendon Dental Spa since 2013, but remains passionate about teaching. He teaches on the postgraduate programme at the University of Leeds and examines and teaches regularly for institutions such as the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Health Education England and NHS Education for Scotland. He has given lectures and presentations across the UK and internationally. He has also served as chair for both regional and UK-wide groups of colleagues in the specialty and is sought-after for expert witness work. He has published papers in several national and international peer-reviewed journals and acted as reviewer for several of these.
David welcomes referrals for advice and support with all aspects of Paediatric Dentistry and offers a wide range of specialist treatments, which can be provided in the practice under local anaesthesia or inhalational sedation where appropriate. Whether your child is suffering from complex trauma, developmental defects or anomalies, aesthetic concerns, problems in the developing dentition, if they have difficult extractions required or if they are anxious or young children with decay, he will be happy to help families in achieving the best possible outcomes for their children. As a father of 3 children himself, David has a relaxed, child-centred approach to dental care.
