How Botulinum Toxin Type A (e.g. Botox® or Bocouture®) Works
This treatment uses a gentle, carefully measured dose of Botulinum Toxin Type A — you may know it by brand names like Botox® or Bocouture®. It’s injected into specific muscles in the face to help them relax.
The results don’t appear straight away — you’ll usually start to notice a difference after about 7 to 10 days, with the full effect kicking in around the 2 to 3 week mark.
On average, the results last around 3 to 4 months, though some people find the effects can last a bit longer (up to 6 months). Everyone is a little different in how their body responds.
It’s important to know that this treatment is about softening and improving certain concerns, not creating perfection. And while it can help with muscle-related issues and dynamic lines (the ones that appear with movement), it won’t fix deeper wrinkles caused by thinning skin or sun damage — but we can always suggest other options if those are your concerns.

What is the treatment for?
This treatment focuses on the masseter muscles, the strong muscles at the back of the jaw used for chewing. When these muscles become overworked — often due to teeth clenching or grinding (also known as bruxism) — they can become enlarged. This not only causes the lower face to appear wider or more square, but it can also lead to uncomfortable symptoms like:
- Jaw tension and pain
- Headaches
- Pain around the jaw joint (TMJ)
- Neck discomfort
- Damage to teeth from grinding
By gently reducing the activity of these muscles using Botulinum Toxin, we can help ease these symptoms and protect your teeth and jaw from ongoing stress. This treatment works especially well when combined with a night-time splint or mouthguard to further reduce clenching during sleep. Will it change the shape of my face?
As the muscle becomes less active and gradually reduces in size, the jawline can start to appear slimmer and more contoured. For some, this is a welcome aesthetic benefit. If your main concern is the appearance of a wider lower face — even without clenching or pain — this treatment can also be used purely for facial slimming by targeting naturally bulky masseter muscles.
Facial Rejuvenation
Botox® is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe facial lines caused by ageing and muscle movements.
Classic examples of facial lines include frown lines between the eyebrows and crows feet around the eyes. Botox® is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The procedure for Botox at our clinic is simple and effective with immediate results – a few tiny injections – and there’s a noticeable improvement.
The results can last up to 6 – 8 months.

The primary ingredient of dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid, a natural component of skin.
A very fine needle is used to deposit the filler just below the surface of the skin adding volume and/or structure for up to 6 months. Thus, dermal filers can temporarily restore a smoother appearance of your skin.

Treatment time can range from 15 to 30 minutes, and you will start to see the effects within 48-72 hours, with maximum effect taking 7-10 days.

Botox® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a protein which relaxes muscles, whilst smoothing lines and wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements.
A very fine needle is used to deposit the filler just below a wrinkle, in order to ‘fill-up space’ and thus, smoothing the surface of the skin.
As we use so many muscles to give us facial expression, you will not be left expressionless. We selectively de-activate the muscles that cause the ageing lines that you are worried about.
